6-20-99 Our Dad is Big Mat. 10:27-33
by Ronald E. George Jr.
A group of expectant fathers were in a waiting room, while their wives were in the process of delivering babies. A nurse came in and announced to one man that his wife had just given birth to twins. "That's quite a coincidence" he responded, "I play for the Minnesota Twins!" A few minutes later another nurse came in and announced to another man that he was the father of triplets. "That's amazing," he exclaimed, "I work for the 3M company." At that point, a third man slipped off his chair and laid down on the floor. Somebody asked him if he was feeling ill. "No," he responded, "I happen to work for the 7-up company!"
Three ministers' sons were discussing their fathers.
"My Dad is so frustrating," said the first. "He comes into the pulpit with a big wad of notes in his hand, and you have to wait until he's turned each page before he finishes."
"That's nothing," said the second. "MY Dad comes into the pulpit with a big wad of notes in his hand, and each time he finishes a sheet he slips it under the others in his hand. You never know WHEN he'll be finished!"
"That's NOTHING," said the third. "My Dad comes into the pulpit with a big wad of notes in his hand. He puts each sheet down on the pulpit after he's read it - then when he's finished, he turns over the whole pile and starts again on the other side!"
The purpose of this message is to show who our heavenly Father is and invite all to confess Him.
Scripture Text: Matt 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, [that] speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, [that] preach ye upon the housetops. 28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Our Dad is a super Dad:
How have we responded to this Super-Dad.
Do you fear Him? Do you follow him and seek to become just like him? Do you confess him with your life and lips? Walk the walk and talk the talk. Will you shout it from the housetops that you have a heavenly Father who is a Super Dad?
