Born Alive! I’ve Got New Life!

Scripture text: Rom. 6:1-8

A couple of days ago my daughter brought home a picture of a tiger that she had drawn in her second grade class. On the back of the picture was the title, Born Alive. Her class was studying the difference between those things that are born alive and those things that are born dead. Our baptism candidates have today shown us the difference between being Born alive and born dead. We now have a new life in Christ.

Key verse: Roma 6:4 (KJS) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

What is the nature of this new life that we have now in Christ? Do you have this new life? What is salvation?

1. Salvation is a New Birth.

John 3:3 (KJS) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

2. Salvation is New Life in Christ.

Roma 6:8 (KJS) Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

3. Salvation is having a New Friend in Jesus.

John 15:13 (KJS) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

4. Salvation is having a new Heavenly Father.

Matt 6:9 (KJS) After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

5. Salvation is having a new Family.

Ephe 3:14 (KJS) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

6. Salvation is having a new home in heaven.

John 3:14 (KJS) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
